Conflicting Past – Common Future: A Practical Survival Guide for Future European Citizens
Abstract
The purpose of this project is to investigate and document trends and behaviours which have led to conflict, starting from a common historical background, World War II and local issues. The purpose is to examine how this kind of behaviour can be prevented in the future and help our students develop attitudes towards active European citizenship.
The concepts of ‘racism’, ’xenophobia’ , ’tolerance’ and ‘diversity’ have been and still are issues to be thought about, analysed and studied by students. The importance of ‘looking’ back at history and its relation to contemporary ideas are essential prerequisites for European prosperity. Young Europeans should be fully aware of the holocaust and its aftermaths and how it has shaped Europe. Our survival guide will allow others to examine and readjust their European perspective.
